While not a new idea and certainly not a unique one, it struck me today that there are easier ways to get your site on the first page of Google than using SEO. This doesn’t work for the massively searched key phrases but can drive you a nice amount of extra traffic.

First page rankings can be achieved quite easily (and that’s not a flippant statement) with a bit of detective work. Use Google to look at the first page of results for the keywords you want to appear for. Now, you will notice some brands, some of your competitors, and other sites. But and this is the big but, you will also see sites that you can get your content or your website listed on. These types of sites include:

• Article Sites
• Press Release Sites
• Classified Ad Sites
• Social Networking Sites
• Business Directories

As an example we recently started to rank for “Holiday Property Cover”. In fact, we now have 7 of the listings on page 1 (As at the post date). This includes:

• The site itself is listed
• A blog post on this site
• 3 copies of a press release promoting the site on different press release sites
• A hubpage (http://www.hubpages.com)
• A listing on a business directory (http://www.hotfroguk.com)

Now none of these site rankings cost me anything and apart from the site listing itself, happened in a matter of days.  We have seen this happen overnight!

I have also had keyword rankings for notes I made in Facebook. The list goes on and on. So rather than simply using SEO techniques to try and get to the top and the rankings for your site, use other techniques such as:

As you can see in the example I show you above, it is possible to attract extra traffic easily. Hunt around and look at some of these sites coming up for your keywords. It only takes a couple of minutes and can be an easy way to see if a keyword could be worth chasing.
