Leadpoint offering IFAs free webpage

IFAonline today announces that Leadpoint, the Lead generation company are offering clients a free webpage to help them to engage with customers online.  Now while this is a good step in the right direction, i.e. if you do not have a web presence at all then why not get one.  When you speak to people you can point them at the web page and it could be a good place to list your contact details.  Think of it as a large business card.

However, if you want to attract new business from the major search engines then you need to really think about adding several more pages on content to get the site or page ranked.  Without content and more pages, these free pages will not get picked up.

If you are looking to get more business form the web then you should really think about building your own website and providing totally original and useful information.

Attract new clients

One thing we are doing in the next few weeks is to create and run several free teleseminars aimed at helping finance and insurance brokers promote their businesses online.  Now in doing this, it got us thinking that telesemniars themselves are a great marketing tool to attract clients that not many, if any, insurance or mortgage brokers are doing.

Have you thought about running a free teleseminar but not sure why or how.  Well to get going you would need to contact a service provider that allowed you to run your teleseminar on the phone, that would have a bridge line that could allow a 100 or so people to come on the call at any one time. We use a company called Conference Genie as it is reliable and low cost, and based in the UK.

The other beauty with Conference Genie is that you are able to record your call. This means you have another freebie that you can then offer to existing or new prospects.  They will be able to download an MP3 version of the call. You can also post it to your site as web content

How great is that!

The other beauty is that all you need to do is dial into a special number, type in a pin number as the call host and away you go.  You can do this from home or even from the office.

Some Tips…

Time of Seminar - As this is going to be done on the phone, it can be done outside working hours so pick a time say 7pm or 8pm and run it for an hour.

Subject - Pick a subject of interest to your clients.  Save £400 on your life insurance premiums or something…  Also include some time for a Q&A session at the end

Other noise - Remember this is being recoreded form the moment the first caller rings so make sure you have no background noise that make sure yo uare not disturbed.  Make sure your mobile phone is on silent.

No or very little selling -  make sure the call is giving great information away and not focused on you trying to sell. You can pitch your services in a follow-up email after the call with their copy of the recording.

They are really low cost options and a great underused tool for Insurance and Mortgage brokers.

Range of Financial Calculators

One of the things we decided to do this year was focus on our content provision.  While the article side of the business is going very well, we decided to branch out and provide some interactive tools to clients that were straight out of the box.

We are in the final throes of launching a set of javascript calculators that provide simple cut and paste code so Finance and Insurance websites can add these to their websites and have more user interaction.

I think these are going to be a great addition to any website and allowing companies to full brand them so they look like there own.  You won’t even have to accredit us with them.

I am hoping these will be live by the end of this month when we will be launching a multiple marketing strategy which I am excited about as we always talk about doing on but never get round to it.

Sound familiar?

I’ll be sharing the results of the marketing here and maybe even provide a blueprint - If it is as successful as we think.

We will also be upgrading our ImportCSV plugin for Wordpress to a fully paid for product.  The new version will allow anyone to add a huge amount of timestamped content to their websites, so you can import whole RSS feeds from Affiliate Programmes and drip feed them into a blog.   How cool is that?  SOme of these feeds can have thousands of products so you can have a lively looking blog with new content being added every day - automatically.

You can read more about the new plugin features here Import CSV Pro

Web Content is key says Guardian Newspaper Article

In a news story in todays Guardian Explainer section says that google uses a site’s content to determine its ranking. Now most of us have known this for a while but it nice to get a friendly reminder now and again. Here is the article…

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/jun/09/searchengines.internet

Google uses more than 200 assessments of a site’s content to determine the order of search results and the exact algorithms are a secret - just as they are with Yahoo and Microsoft’s search tools.

Is your content allowing Google and the other search engines to assess your site properly. One of the major assessments is having a regularly updated site with fresh new content, this is one reason that the search engines love blogs.

Did you know that Speedie Consultants power several blogs for clients? If you are in Finance or Insurance and you would like to have a blog but just don’t have time then why not get in touch. We have a lot of experience of running low cost, high quality traffic blogs.

RSS Promotion

Just a quick tip.  Make sure your RSS feed , be it your Blog or news feed has a good keyword rich title and description.

Why?

Because RSS search engines use the titles and descriptions to help sort and rank a feed.  Make sure it has 3 or 4 of your major search phrases in both.

Here is a list of some 200 odd RSS directories and Search Engines to submit your feed too.

http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/

Submitting your feed is a great way to gain additional exposure for your posts or news and will drive you more traffic.

How to become an Authority Site on Google

There was an interssting little third page article in this months Netmag that was very interesting. Basically it provided 5 tips to help become an authority site in google.

Now one thing I loved about these tips is that 4 out of 5 of these tips were content related. I’m not going to reprint the whole thing here but they were:

  1. Add intelligent and interesting content
  2. Adding more pages to increase your search engine site saturation
  3. Offer Industry News
  4. Have various authors if you wan to get listed in google news as a news source

The last one was adding links but again this was linked to having good quality content that other sites want to link to.

If you want to have more chance of becoming an authority site in google and reap the extra benefits of traffic and ranking then adding more content seems to be the key.  If you can’t manage that content internally then drop us a line and we can provide you with a free finance content or insurance content analysis report and checklist on what content you should be adding to your website.

Displaying your RSS feeds

One thing we like with RSS is the ability to syndicate content once and then anytime a new post is made, the RSS will update all the different places that has your feed. It is almost set and forget.

I was told last week about a way of adding your RSS feeds to your Facebook profile.

If you have a Facebook profile and you’d like to feed your blog RSS or article RSS feed to your profile, here’s how:

Install the Flog Blog application on Facebook - To find this do a search under applications in Facebook

In the feed URL box enter your RSS feed url NOT YOUR SITE URL

Enter the other fields and you’ll be done

Good Luck
