Repurposing content is all the rage these days, and with good reason. When you are creating content, the hard work comes in producing the original piece of content and coming up with the ideas, carrying out the research, putting it into words and getting your point across.
So it makes sense that if you can use all of this work and simply repurpose it into another format quickly, it is well worth doing. Why? Some reasons include:
- it is often very quick to repurpose your content and no more research is needed;
- people like to access content in different ways so you can appeal to a wider audience;
- you may be able to use your content in different ways to get it in front of more people;
- it allows you to build backlinks from different sources, which may be good for your SEO.
There are a few main ways to repurpose your content, so here are three of them to get you started.
1. Videos
It is now easier than ever to create and upload a video, so you may not even need a web designer to help you do this and you may be able to create and upload them yourself.
All you need to do is take the information in the written article and then either read it out aloud in front of the camera, or add some animation to the words. People may prefer to hear and see you talking rather than reading something, so this is a very easy way to reach a wider audience.
2. Podcasts
Podcasts are very easy to create because all you need is an audio recorder. Just like the video, you may simply want to read out all or parts of your article, and then you may want to edit it and add some sound effects to make it more interesting.
Once you have created the podcast, you may then want to upload it to your website where visitors can download it, or create your own channel on iTunes or other podcast libraries.
3. Press releases
Press releases are one of the simplest ways to convert your content into another format. If you have a written article then all you have to do to convert it into a press release is change the wording slightly, maybe alter the tense, and format it so that there is an introduction, a title, a subtitle and your contact details.
Just remember that a press release should generally be based on an item of news, so this is especially useful for new product announcements and other industry news.
Explore the possibilities
There are many other ways to repurpose your content, but these are some of the main ones. It may be challenging at first to start repurposing, but once you are used to each type of content then it may become easier to repurpose your written content.
