Affiliate recipes

One of the ways to boost revenue from your website is being able to monetise people that don’t want to work with you or don’t meet your criteria.

Rather than just shoo them away you might be able to refer them onto another company or product or service that will fit their needs and be paid for it.

Using relevant affiliate programmes you could create additional revenues that right now you are leaving on the table.

So how could this work.

Lets make some assumptions for the sake of this article

  • You have a WordPress site
  • You are a B2B business
  • You have enquiry forms to generate leads

Say you convert 10% of your leads into clients. Most people feel that is a good conversion rate. But this means there is 90% that don't fit your criteria that just leave and go elsewhere.

Here’s one of my affiliate recipes you can use to generate more revenue..

Gravity Forms + Conditional Logic + Affiliate Offer = Revenue

We use Gravity Forms – one of the best plugins for Form and lead generation on WordPress. It also allows us to use the conditional login we need ton our forms to generate the extra revenue opportunity.

Conditional logic – this is the bit you need to think about, what fields on the form tell you this is not a good fit for your business. Amount of budget, size, age, whatever it is – we can use this – to filter and immediately deliver a message and link to a useful tool.

The conditional logic will allow you to say if all the criteria are met then send the user to a thank you page that says this…

Thanks someone will be in touch – as normal.

If not, and they are not a good fit, send them to a thank you page that says something else with an offer of another product or service that might help them.

It could be something as simple as saying:

Sorry we can’t help you right now as you don't have the necessary budget for use to do all the things we would need to do to help you. That said here are a few partners or services we would suggest you look at to get you up to speed.

And simply preframe the referral links.

In the above example – I would suggest no more that 3 links.

Or something like…

Sadly we don't have any space right now to take on an additional client outside our core niche. That said, I do want to try and help. We have referred people over too and feedback is they were delivering some great results…

And simply preframe the referral link.

In this example I would show just the one link

The key at this point is the affiliate offer.

Make sure it is:

  • Relevant
  • Useful
  • Trustworthy
  • Something you have used or at least had contact with

Once you have something you can refer it is simply case of having your tech put this altogether.

This will then mean you now have an affiliate revenue stream baked into your processes so each time you get someone that is not a fit for your business, they are offered something relevant and useful for them and you get paid a commission. You can tweak the offers and how they are delivered but this is a way of using affiliate programmes to drive more revenue.
